BRIEF BIO

Emanuele Filippi is a piano player, composer, and bandleader from Udine, Italy.

Filippi was the winner of the Italian jazz competition “Chicco Bettinardi” in 2017 as a soloist and won the third price at nationally renowned “Massimo Urbani” prize in 2016.

As a composer, Filippi qualified for finals at the national “Barga Jazz Festival Composition Competition” in 2015 and “Scrivere in Jazz Composition Competition” in 2016.

In 2018 Filippi released his debut record “Polyphonies” on the Italian label “Artesuono-Sketches”.

He is currently frequenting a Masters in Music at the City College of New York and he has been mentored by Fred Hersch, Kevin Hays, Bruce Barth, Steve Wilson, Glauco Venier.

Filippi started playing piano at the age of eight and two years later was accepted to the Conservatory of Udine, starting a 10 year classical piano program. Later he graduated from both classical and jazz piano bachelors.

Filippi is a founding member of the Udin&Jazz Big Band. He also leads his own group performing original repertoire.
